The CCR model is the origin and inception of the CCGT, which was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007 to the general audience.
For some years Koenigsegg® worked hard to be accepted by the FIA® GT1 /the world motor sport council board to compete in the FIA® GT1 racing series and combined their knowledge and experience of its CCR and started the manufacturing of the CCGT.
Almost all producers participating in the FIA® GT1 racing series use their fundamental experience, collected over decades, before starting the first time. There is probably only one producer, who did not have such a long period of time of experience but did start at the FIA® GT1 which at that time was Lamborghini®. As Koenigsegg® did not have many years or even decades of experience, it seems that a lack of experience was not the reason, why Koenigsegg®, hasn’t been accepted for the FIA® GT1 racing series.
The CCGT has a low dry weight just 1000 kg, which didn’t comply to the FIA® GT1 /WMSC regulations which demand a minimum dry weight of 1100 kg, the additional 100 kg were perfectly positioned in the CCGTby Koenigsegg® - resulting into a perfect handling with a perfect performance, especially towards heavier vehicles - like it's possible "competitors".
Very shortly before CCGT‘s clearance to participate in the FIA® GT1 racing series, one GT1 / WMSC rule was unexpectedly changed and now require a yearly production of a minimum of at least 350 cars to be built for public sales instead of 20 over several years before. Koenigsegg® could not comply to the sudden and new rule, having barely cars produced for public sales at that time and the application for an exemption was rejected by the board.
Today its owned by a private collector.
