First shake down test were made in 1995.
By 1996 the very first Koenigsegg® CC running prototype XX1 (XP001) was then actually ready to drive. Made on a tube frame at the very first workshop in Olofstrom, Skåne County in Sweden.
It was first driven at Anderstorp race track in 1996 while beeing in silver with a 420 hp modified Audi® 4,2l V8.
2 more prototypes were built: No 2 (called XX2 or XP002) was seen 1997 at the Cannes Film Festival - black with the upgraded Audi® 450 hp engine, followed by..
September 2000 the CC8s production prototype XP003 made its debut during the french motor show in Paris. This became the later test and crash car to receive homolgation for selling the CC8s to customers... already the new 655hp Koenigsegg® engine installed.
In March 2004 the new CCR was lanched in Geneva, which was a further development step of the CC8s model.
It has, however, various improvements. A larger front splitter for optimized downforce and tweaked headlight arrangement came standard with a rear wing. New larger tires and wheels equipped with larger brakes. Upgraded suspension and a more powerful engine with twin Rotrex® Superchargers, producing 601 kW (806 hp; 817 PS) at 6900 rpm and 920 N⋅m (679 lbf⋅ft) of torque at 5700 rpm.
The CCX-serie prototype was unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show.
Sporting body modifications to meet US vehicle regulations and a new in-house developed 4.7L twin superchargedV8 engine capable of generating a maximum power output of 817 PS (601 kW; 806 hp) at 7,000 rpm and 920 N⋅m (679 lb⋅ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm while running on 91 octane gasoline.
Within several years Koenigsegg developed a racing version of the original CCR, the CCGT, which was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007 to the general audience.
Koenigsegg® worked hard to be accepted by the FIA® GT1 / the world motor sport council board to compete in the FIA® GT1 racing series and combined their knowledge and experience of its CCR and started the manufacturing of the first CCGT prototype.
Very shortly before CCGT‘s clearance to participate in the FIA® GT1 racing series, one GT1 / WMSC rule was unexpectedly changed and now require a yearly production of a minimum of at least 350 cars to be built for public sales instead of 20 over several years before. Koenigsegg® could not comply to the sudden and new rule, having barely cars produced for public sales at that time and the application for an exemption was rejected by the board.
By 2009 it was another prototype, which took the public spotlight:
Koenigsegg® QUANT prototype
Revealed at the Geneva motor show 2009, it marks the partnership between the Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg® and NLV Solar AG® as together the two companies have developed this four seater solar electric "car of the future". Quant’s energy relieson FAES (Flow Accumulator EnergyStorage) and its ability to recharge in just 20 minutes giving this vehicle an autonomy of 500 km.
The Koenigsegg® Quant is also able to output an impressive 512 bhp with 714 nM needing 5.2seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and reaching a top speed 275 Km/h.
The Agera had its debut in Geneva 2010 and was named Hypercar of the Year in 2010 by Top Gear magazine. The Agera RS variant became the world's fastest production car in 2017, setting a record with a GPS-verified two-way average top speed of 447 km/h (278 mph) and a fastest straight-line speed of 458 km/h (285 mph).
In 2014 a completly new design of the Regera was invented. Its official lanuch was done 5th of March 2015 at the GIMS (Geneva International Motor Show).
Time to extend the limit again: in March 2019 the Jesko is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of company Founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg. t features a redesigned 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1280 hp on standard gasoline and 1600 hp on E85 biofuel (in some markets) alongside the revolutionary new 9-speed Koenigsegg® Light Speed Transmission (LST) system. Advanced aerodynamics offer over 1000 kg of downforce, making it the ultimate track weapon.
2020 March the 3rd it was time for the Gemera prototype to be presentet in Geneva in a privat but also world-wide publictation via online-streaming.
Next to it was also the very first Jesko Absolut prototype. 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 capable of revving to 8,500rpm - nine-speed gearbox - topspeed + 310 mph
By 19th of August 2022 the all new prototype of the CC850 was unveiled at Pepple Beach, Carlifonia, USA during the Monterey Car Week.
The CC850 is a homage to the CC8s. Built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first production CC8s, the CC850 was originally limited to 50 units to celebrate the company's founder Christian von Koenigsegg's 50th birthday, however, due to increased demand it was announced six days later on the 25th of August 2022 that an additional 20 units would be built.
